ORF information
ORF ID TF00807 (frame 1) Gene ID lpg2688
Position and sequences 3038144...3038599(151 aa) Gene Name/synonym icmW -
Organism Legionella pneumophila subsp. pneumophila str. Philadelphia 1 Cluster 4 genes
Product Type IV secretion system protein IcmW
1stcategory I-T4SS 2ndcategory Uncharacterized Protein Family IcmW
3rdcategory Effector translocator
Function Component of the type IV secretion system Dot/Icm that is required for intracellular growth in human macrophages and amoebae. IcmW and IcmS proteins interact to form a stable complex, IcmSW, that facilitates translocation of effector proteins by the Dot/Icm system, although IcmW and IcmS may retain partial activity when they are not in a complex.
Miscellaneus IcmW is a cytoplasmic protein; Effector proteins that were able to bind IcmSW in vitro required icmS and icmW for efficient translocation into eukaryotic cells during L. pneumophila infection;
