Organism Legionella pneumophila Paris Cluster 6 genes
Product Type IV secretion system protein IcmL/DotI
1stcategory I-T4SS 2ndcategory IcmL/DotI Family
3rdcategory Effector translocator
Function Component of the type IV secretion system Dot/Icm that is required for intracellular growth in human macrophages and amoebae.
Miscellaneus Localized in inner membrane. IcmL/DotI protein is similarity with TraM protein from IncI1 plasmid R64. TraM was described as a small DNA binding protein for the F-factor system. The R64 traMNU genes were absolutely required for R64 conjugation, while their homologues, icmLKB genes, were dispensable for RSF1010 mobilization in L. pneumophila. DotI is similar to the product, of unknown function, of orf3, located on the IncM plasmid R446; Insertion mutations in icmL gene had no effect on conjugation.
