Function	Component of the T4SS VirB/D4 required for the translocation of the virulence factors (VirE2, VirF and the VirD2-T-DNA complex) to plant cells. VirB8 is an inner-membrane-associated component of T4SS VirB/D4 that functions as a factor determining interaction among T4SS components and thus it directs polar assembly of the membrane-spanning complex. VirB8 initiates T4SS assembly and targets VirB1 to the cell pole. VirB8, together with VirB4, mediates the formation of VirB2-VirB5 pilus pre-assembly complexes.
