Cluster |
4 genes |
Product | Type IV secretion system protein VirB7 |
1stcategory | P-T4SS |
2ndcategory | VirB7 Family |
3rdcategory | Effector and T-DNA translocator |
Function | Component of the T4SS VirB/D4 required for the translocation of the virulence factors (VirE2, VirF and the VirD2-T-DNA complex) to plant cells. VirB7 is an outer membrane lipoprotein that associates with the T pilus. The heterodimer VirB7-VirB9 functions as a nucleation center during biogenesis of the transporter T pilus. Both, VirB7 lipid modification and the disulfide cross-linked VirB7 homodimer are important for T-pilus assembly. |
Miscellaneus | VirB7 assembles as a disulfide-cross-linked homodimer and a heterodimer with VirB9.
