ORF information
ORF ID TF00481 (frame 1) Gene ID Atu6171
Position and sequences 187691...188353(220 aa) Gene Name/synonym virB5 -
Organism Agrobacterium tumefaciens C58 UWash Cluster 4 genes
Product Type IV secretion system protein VirB5
1stcategory P-T4SS 2ndcategory VirB5/TrbF Family
3rdcategory Effector and T-DNA translocator
Function Component of the T4SS VirB/D4 required for the translocation of the virulence factors (VirE2, VirF and the VirD2-T-DNA complex) to plant cells. VirB5 is the minor component of extracellular T pilus, in which it localizes at the tips of cell-bund T pili as well as at the ends of detached T pili and on the cell surface. The tip-localized VirB5 impacts host-cell recognition. Also, VirB5 is essential for the incorporation of the major component VirB2 into T-pili.
