Function Functions as a Dtr protein required for the conjugal transfer of the plasmid pTiC58. TraC is necessary for the efficient oriT processing. Together with TraA and TraD forms a putative relaxosome at oriT that represses the traCDGyci operon as well as the divergent traAFBH operon.
Miscellaneus It was proposed that an ancestor of the pTiC58 plasmid may have arisen by the fusion of two conjugal plasmids and that one (IncP-type) tra system in this fusion retained the original function while the other (IncN-type) could have evolved to transfer DNA to plant nuclei.
