ORF information
ORF ID TF00322 (frame 1) Gene ID BRA0069
Position and sequences 66525...67241(238 aa) Gene Name/synonym virB1 /virB1sp
Organism Brucella suis 1330 Cluster 20 genes
Product Type IV secretion system protein VirB1 homolog
1stcategory P-T4SS 2ndcategory VirB1 Family
3rdcategory Effector translocator
Function The VirB T4SS could be required for the establishment of the replication niche in the host. VirB1 could act as a lytic transglycosylase, which facilitates the assembly of T4SS via localized lysis of the peptidoglycan.
Miscellaneus VirB system is specifically induced within macrophages by phagosome acidification. Induced at 37 degrees Celsius in minimal medium, suggesting that nutritional stress is a regulating signal. VirB1 interacts with VirB8, VirB9 and VirB11.
