Function Component of the T4SS VirB/D4 required for the translocation of the virulence factors (VirE2, VirF and the VirD2-T-DNA complex) to plant cells. VirD4 functions as a type IV coupling factor (T4CP) that facilites communication between substrate and the transport pore. VirD4 T4CP binds substrate and transfers it to VirB11. VirD4, VirB11 and VirB4 interact with each other, and that they promote substrate transfer by both ATP-independent and -dependent mechanisms.
