| 3rdcategory | Conjugation |
| Function | Component of the conjugative T4SS trb/tra required for the transfer of plasmid F among E. coli cells, from donor cells to recipients. The TraV is involved in pilus assembly and appear to facilitate the polymerization of inner membrane-located pilin subunits into extracellular F pilus filaments.

| Miscellaneus | Analysis of the amino acid sequence of the deduced traV product revealed a sequence resembling that of signal peptides from bacterial lipoproteins, namely, an N-terminal region containing positively charged amino acids followed by a stretch of largely hydrophobic residues and a C-terminal sequence that specifies the site at which the mature protein is cleaved from the signal sequence.
