Function Component of the Type IV transformation competence system comB, which is involved in DNA transformation competence acquiring DNA from the extracellular milieu.
Miscellaneus The comB10 sequence contain an error sequencing, thus hp0041/42 corresponding to comB10. For hp0041/42, the insertion of TTAAA (position 313–317 of hp0041) causes an out of frame situation. The addition of a single nucleotide would also restore the reading frame and combine hp0041/42 to a single ORF.
